An exciting project that I’ve been working on at Circle over the past few months is Circle Rehabilitation. The service is a game-changer in UK healthcare, because it will help fix the flow of patients through acute hospitals – at present, patients too often have nowhere more appropriate to go than stay in an acute bed for their recovery.

What Circle Rehabilitation brings the sort of specialist, high-tech, high-intensity rehabilitation common in Europe and north America the Britain that’s been absent in this country. The service will provide large, multi-disciplinary teams of consultants, GPs, nurses and therapists, with technology including anti-gravity treadmills (these are based on tech from Nasa).

The service has assessment centres in central London, Bedford, Nottingham, Bath and Reading, and a state-of-the-art inpatient facility at Circle’s five-star hospital in Berkshire.

The approach will help accelerate patients’ recovery from things like hip replacements – indeed, the service covers a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

The service has a dedicated website, optimised for mobile phones and tablets, which you can find here.
